EFT Tapping: What All The Fuss Is About.

EFT tapping can releive tension and pain.

Each group of people has their own lingo. In EFT tapping is the most active part of the process. So, when people say they will "tap on" something, quite often what they mean is that they will use EFT on it.

It may seem odd to use EFT on many of the topics presented. EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques so to use it for physical pain may confuse at first. Using it on a situation or a concept may seem even more odd. However, since the purpose of EFT is to balance the energy system, using it for physical pain, or on a situation or concept fits right in with the purpose of EFT.

Tap tap tap.

As I've mentioned elsewhere on the site, EFT tapping specifically stimulated points traditionally used in acupuncture. When done in combination, this has the effect of clearing energy blockages. Gary Craig, the founder of EFT, compares energy blockages to a short-circuit. If you are going about your day, and suddenly your awareness is ambushed by something that beats you down emotionally, that's exactly what we're talking about.

By systematically tapping on the points, you straighten out that "short circuit" and thus free yourself from the problems it brings.

These "short circuits" can show up in a variety of ways. Painful memories of the past, self-limiting or self-destructive beliefs about yourself, addictions and compulsions... the list goes on and on.

One thing in particular that EFT therapy seems good for is reversal. Often, when we consciously want something, subconsciously we want the opposite, or we want things to remain as they are. This will cause us to "spin our wheels" trying to make positive changes in our lives, not getting anywhere. For this we can use EFT, "tapping on" the reversal, and thus straightening it out. Once the reversal is out of the way and you're applying most your effort directly to the change you are making, you'll find that it is much easier.

Tap where?

Like any topic with wide and varied interest, EFT methods have become rather open to interpretation, leading some to change what acupuncture points are used, and other small details. The interesting thing is that most of these variations are minor. The basic process, the basic method, remains almost unchanged.

For beginners, I would recommend learning the basics of EFT first. Once you have a thorough grounding in the basics, then use your intuition and make EFT work for you!
