"So, Does EFT Work?"![]() I must admit, asking does EFT work is entirely fair. Here we have a healing technique that is easily learned, takes mere minutes to use, and claims to produce massive results. Sounds suspicious. When you make claims like that, you'd better back it up. Gary Craig, EFT founder, and co-author of the more clinical book The Promise of Energy Psychology has had to deal with this question a lot. He could site several statistics, but his most impressive answer is to suggest people try it for themselves. EFT information is available online, and the book mentioned earlier is easily found. I don't have the direct data of a study, however, I can say that in the extensive material at the end of the book mentioned above, there are different trials laid out asking how and why does EFT work and each one showed an impressive response, in comparison with acupuncture, traditional psychological approaches, and medication. The book was geared more towards mental/emotional difficulties, and thus the data presented didn't go beyond that. Despite much direct experience, I haven't found any clinical data about EFT and physical pain... yet. My Own Experience with EFT.When I first learned EFT, I doubted it's usefulness and didn't really give it a proper try. I had read the information, but I let it sit on a shelf, and never applied it. Eventually, I wound up with a very powerful headache. Over the years I have become something of a connoisseur of headaches. This one was a doozy. None of my medications would put in a dent in it. Feeling miserable, and willing to give anything a try at that point. So does EFT work? Time to find out. I ran through the eft procedure and within 10 minutes, the headache went from unbearable to almost unnoticeable. From there, I've used it for dealing with emotionally painful moments in my life, and preventing them from becoming recurring trauma. I've used EFT to cut (and in some cases, eliminate) the ongoing pain of bad joints. I've used EFT to drop self-destructive and self-sabotaging behaviors. I have not found anything in my own personal experience that EFT has not been able to touch and change for the better. There Is No Substitute For Experience. If you find yourself still asking if, how, or why does EFT work, there is no substitute for direct experience. In my case, there really wasn't much to lose. Nor is there really much of anything to lose for anyone out there, as the information is out there and available. EFT is available anytime you have a minute or two and doesn't take much effort to use. All that you really have to lose is the pain. Does EFT work? My recommendation is to simply try it out for yourself and see what happens for you. Let me know your experiences and (if you want) I can share them in the monthly newsletter!
